Butvilas beats Dimitrov 7-6 6-3 in St. Tropez; Sakkari past Fruhvirtova in Singapore

The most prominent name on the St. Tropez Challenger sheet fell in the Round of 32: Edas Butvilas defeated Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 6-3. The same round produced the longest scoreline of the reported results, Matteo Martineau edging Tristan Schoolkate 7-6 6-7 7-6, while Harold Mayot beat Justin Boulais 6-4 2-6 7-6 and Billy Harris recovered to see off Nicolai Budkov Kjaer 3-6 6-3 7-5.

In Singapore, Maria Sakkari came through her Round of 32 meeting with Linda Fruhvirtova 6-4 6-1.

At the Porto Challenger, Reese Brantmeier defeated Erika Andreeva 6-3 7-6 and Veronika Podrez turned round her match with Madalena Matias to win 4-6 6-1 6-2. Naiktha Bains advanced when Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva retired at 5-2, and Mia Pohankova beat Francisca Jorge 6-2 6-1, with V Steiner defeating Caroline Werner 6-2 7-5.

Buenos Aires delivered several three-setters. Nicolas Kicker lost the opening set before beating Tomas Martinez 1-6 6-2 6-0, and Hugo Dellien got past Matheus Pucinelli De Almeida 5-7 6-4 6-4. Franco Roncadelli beat Bruno Fernandez 6-2 6-0, Juan Carlos Prado Angelo needed two tie-breaks to see off Lorenzo Joaquin Rodriguez 7-6 7-6, and Murkel Alejandro Dellien Velasco defeated Hernan Casanova 6-3 6-4. In Tolentino, Barbora Palicova came from a set down against Alicia Herrero Linana 6-7 6-1 7-5 and Ekaterine Gorgodze beat Laura Pigossi 6-1 5-7 6-3.

Tuesday's winners Kicker and Hugo Dellien are scheduled to meet each other in the Buenos Aires Round of 16 on 23 September. Singapore's Round of 16 programme includes Mirra Andreeva against Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Elise Mertens against Barbora Krejcikova.
