Damm downs Mochizuki 6-1 6-4 in Chengdu opener

Martin Damm of the United States defeated Japan's Shintaro Mochizuki 6-1, 6-4 in the Round of 32 at the ATP hard-court event in Chengdu. The American struck 13 aces against two double faults, landed 60.3 percent of his first serves and won 71.1 percent of those points, adding 56.0 percent behind his second delivery. Damm faced five break points and saved four, a rate of 80 percent. Mochizuki served five aces with two double faults, put 46.9 percent of first serves in play and won 69.6 percent of them, but 38.5 percent on his second serve, saving two of six break points.
