Jovic beats Sonmez 7-6 6-4 in Guadalajara last 16

Iva Jovic of the United States defeated Turkey's Zeynep Sonmez 7-6 6-4 in the Round of 16 at the WTA 1000 hard-court event in Guadalajara. Jovic landed 48.5 percent of her first serves, winning 68.8 percent of those points and 44.1 percent behind her second delivery, with three aces and three double faults. She faced seven break points and saved three, 42.9 percent. Sonmez put 54 percent of first serves in and won 72.3 percent of those points, but took only 37.5 percent on second serve, striking one ace against eight double faults, and saved five of ten break points.
