Hurkacz beats Dzumhur in four sets at US Open opener
Hubert Hurkacz recovered from the loss of the second set to overwhelm Damir Dzumhur 6-4 4-6 6-1 6-1 in the US Open first round, taking the last two sets for the loss of just two games. The Pole's serve was the difference: 14 aces to none, 67.6% of points won behind the first delivery and 48.8% on the second, even with seven double faults. Dzumhur, who landed 58.9% of first serves, won only 49.2% of those points and 38.6% behind his second, offering little resistance once the match turned. Hurkacz moved through in a shade over three sets of control.
