Stefanini stuns Yastremska in three sets at US Open
Lucrezia Stefanini came through a three-set opening-round battle at the US Open, beating Dayana Yastremska 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 after surrendering the second set. The Italian's serve was the steadier weapon throughout: she landed 68.6 percent of her first deliveries and committed just one double fault, while winning a remarkable 74.1 percent of her second-serve points. Yastremska, by contrast, struck four aces but coughed up nine double faults and won only 39.4 percent behind her second serve, a gap that told decisively in the one-sided decider. It was a statement result for Stefanini in the main draw.
