Dart edges past Watson in three to reach US Open main draw
Harriet Dart came from a set down to beat fellow Briton Heather Watson 2-6 6-4 6-1 in the final round of US Open qualifying. Watson controlled the opener but her first serve landed only 40.5 percent of the time, and while she won 75.0 percent of those points, she took just 40.4 percent behind the second ball as the match wore on. Dart was steadier off the ground, getting 52.2 percent of first serves in and winning 66.7 percent of them, with 47.7 percent on the second. Both players struck nine double faults. The win carried Dart into the main draw.
