Dart recovers from set down to beat Penickova in US Open qualifying
Harriet Dart dropped the opening set 7-5 but overwhelmed Kristina Penickova from there, sweeping the second 6-0 and closing out a 5-7 6-0 6-3 win in the US Open qualifying semifinals. The Briton landed only 51.4 percent of her first serves, yet she was punishing when she found the box, winning 78.9 percent of those points and firing three aces. Penickova was the steadier server by percentage at 63.8, but she won just 56.7 percent behind her first ball and only 29.4 percent behind her second. Both players struck six double faults.
