Cina edges Nardi 6-4 in all-Italian US Open qualifying clash

Federico Cina came through an all-Italian US Open qualifying quarterfinal against Luca Nardi, the scoreline reading 6-4 in his favour. Neither man found much rhythm on first serve, but Cina landed 47.6 percent of his against Nardi's 38.8, and that small edge mattered on a day when both were often playing from the second ball. When Cina did find the target he was close to untouchable, winning 80 percent of first-serve points to Nardi's 73.7, and he was firmer behind the second delivery too, 54.5 percent against 46.7. Four aces to three and two double faults to three completed a tidy afternoon's work as Cina moved on in qualifying.
