Bertola beats Moro Canas 6-3 6-4 in US Open qualifying
Remy Bertola came through his US Open qualifying quarterfinal in straight sets, beating Alejandro Moro Canas 6-3 6-4 without ever losing control of the scoreboard. The Swiss did it on the back of an extraordinary first delivery: he landed only 48.5 percent of them, but won 87.5 percent of those points, enough to overcome ten double faults and a second serve that returned just 50 percent. Moro Canas was steadier, with three aces, three double faults and 58.3 percent behind his second ball, yet his 76 percent on first serve points could not match it. Bertola moves a step closer to the main draw.
