Hurkacz serves past Shimabukuro in Cincinnati opener

Hubert Hurkacz needed just two sets to move past Sho Shimabukuro 6-2 6-4 in the opening round in Cincinnati. The Pole's serve was the difference: 13 aces against a single double fault, 72.9% of first deliveries landed, and 82.9% of those points won, with a healthy 69.2% behind the second ball. Shimabukuro, by contrast, found only 61.3% of his first serves and won 41.7% of his second-serve points, a leak that gave Hurkacz his openings in both sets. The Japanese player added three double faults to two aces. It was a clean, low-risk start to the Masters 1000 for Hurkacz.
