Ruse routs Linette 6-0 6-3 in Cincinnati first round
Elena Gabriela Ruse needed little more than an hour's worth of dominance to sweep past Magda Linette 6-0 6-3 in the opening round in Cincinnati, taking the first set without conceding a game. The difference came on second serve: Linette won just 28.0% of those points and coughed up six double faults, while Ruse held firm at 50.0% behind hers. The Romanian landed only 45.1% of first serves but made them count, winning 73.9% of those points against 57.7% for her Polish opponent. It was an emphatic way for Ruse to open her campaign at a WTA 1000 event.
