Yuan Beats Zarazua 6-4 6-4 in Cincinnati Qualifying
Yue Yuan came through a tight straight-setter against Renata Zarazua, 6-4 6-4, in the qualifying semifinals at the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati. The Chinese player leaned on a sturdier delivery throughout, landing 66.7% of her first serves and winning 80% of those points, against 63.6% and 65.7% for the Mexican. Yuan also struck five aces to Zarazua's one and kept her errors down with just two double faults to three. With both players winning 50% behind the second serve, that first-serve edge was the margin, and it carried Yuan a step closer to the main draw.
