Fernandez downs Parks in Singapore; Putintseva rallies past Bucsa in Billie Jean King Cup

Leylah Fernandez was a 6-4 6-3 winner over Alycia Parks in the round of 16 at WTA Singapore, the only completed match recorded so far at that event today.

In Billie Jean King Cup World Group action, Yulia Putintseva defeated Cristina Bucsa 6-2 3-6 6-1 after dropping the second set. At ATP Hangzhou, Valentin Royer came through the round of 32 against Adam Walton 6-3 6-4.

Three-set recoveries were a recurring feature of the Challenger results reported. In Ankara, Han Shi beat Ayla Aksu 6-1 5-7 6-2 and Ksenia Zaytseva came back from a set down to see off Elena Pridankina 2-6 7-6 6-1. In Tolentino, Rebeka Masarova lost the opener before beating Isabella Maria Serban 5-7 6-2 6-0, while Jessica Pieri did likewise against Leyre Romero Gormaz 3-6 6-4 6-1. Elena Malygina recovered to defeat Oceane Dodin 2-6 6-4 6-2 in Porto, and Gabriela Andrea Knutson edged Ayana Akli 6-4 5-7 6-4. In St. Tropez, Titouan Droguet beat Borna Gojo 3-6 6-3 6-4 and Daniil Glinka got past Ugo Blanchet 6-4 3-6 6-4.

Among the more direct wins, Maria Timofeeva conceded three games against Kajsa Rinaldo Persson, 6-3 6-0, while Mark Lajal beat Thomas Faurel 6-1 6-2 and Dali Blanch defeated Matthew William Donald 6-3 6-1. Carlos Taberner (7-5 6-4 over Max Wiskandt), Max Alcala Gurri, Pol Martin Tiffon, Marvin Moeller, Dino Prizmic, Sinja Kraus, Berfu Cengiz, Polina Iatcenko, Maristany G. and Deniz Dilek also advanced in straight sets.

Wednesday's card is headed by the Singapore round of 16, where Amanda Anisimova (#11) faces Talia Gibson (#63) and Alexandra Eala (#18) meets Tatiana Prozorova. Chengdu's schedule includes Hubert Hurkacz against Alexandr Shevchenko and Tallon Griekspoor against Denis Shapovalov.
