Van de Zandschulp edges Royer in Beijing qualifying
Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands defeated France's Valentin Royer 4-6 6-2 6-4 in the qualifying semifinals of the ATP 500 in Beijing, on hard courts. Van de Zandschulp landed 63.5 percent of his first serves and won 74.1 percent of those points, along with 51.6 percent behind his second delivery, with one ace against five double faults. He faced seven break points and saved five, a rate of 71.4 percent. Royer struck three aces with three double faults, put 59.3 percent of first serves in and won 70.8 percent of those points, saving two of the six break points he faced.
