Bassols downs Nicholls 6-1 6-1 in Beijing qualifying

Spain's Marina Bassols defeated Olivia Nicholls 6-1 6-1 in the qualifying semifinals of the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, on hard courts. Bassols landed 58.5% of her first serves and won 71.0% of those points, adding 50.0% behind her second delivery, with three aces against five double faults. She faced seven break points and saved six of them, a rate of 85.7%. Nicholls put 66.2% of her first serves in play but won 48.8% of those points and 31.8% of her second-serve points, striking two aces with three double faults, and saved five of the 11 break points she faced.
