Fruhvirtova edges Ye in Beijing qualifying semifinal

Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic beat Singapore's Sarah Ye 5-7 6-3 7-6 in the qualifying semifinals of the WTA 1000 hard-court event in Beijing. Fruhvirtova struck nine aces against six double faults, landed 63.5% of her first serves and won 75.8% of those points, along with 42.1% of her second-serve points. She faced eight break points and saved four, a 50% rate. Ye hit no aces and four double faults, put 62.1% of first serves in, won 65.3% of first-serve points and 40.9% behind the second, and saved 17 of the 21 break points she faced, 81%.
