Fernandez downs Gibson 7-5 6-0 in Singapore final

Canada's Leylah Fernandez defeated Australia's Talia Gibson 7-5, 6-0 in the final of the WTA hard-court event in Singapore. Fernandez landed 60.4 percent of her first serves and won 62.5 percent of those points, along with 52.4 percent behind her second delivery, striking five aces against four double faults. She faced five break points and saved three, a rate of 60 percent. Gibson put 53.6 percent of first serves in play, winning 51.4 percent of first-serve points and 40.6 percent of second-serve points, with two aces and five double faults.
