Birrell downs Ma 7-5 6-3 in Seoul last 16

Australia's Kimberly Birrell beat China's Yexin Ma 7-5 6-3 in the Round of 16 on hard courts at WTA Seoul. Birrell landed 62.3% of her first serves and won 58.3% of those points, along with 55.2% of her second-serve points, striking one ace against four double faults. She faced eight break points and saved five, a rate of 62.5%. Ma served six aces and four double faults, but put only 53.2% of first serves in play, winning 57.6% of those points and 41.4% behind the second delivery. She saved three of the nine break points she faced, 33.3%.
