Mochizuki edges Xiao 7-5 4-6 7-5 in Chengdu qualifying

Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan defeated China's Linang Xiao 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 in the qualifying semifinals at the ATP event in Chengdu on hard courts. Mochizuki landed 58.4 percent of his first serves, winning 64.4 percent of those points and 57.1 percent behind the second delivery, with three aces and four double faults. He faced 10 break points and saved five. Xiao struck eight aces against a single double fault and put 67 percent of first serves in, winning 68.1 percent of first-serve points and 35.3 percent of second-serve points, saving five of the 11 break points he faced.
