Muller edges Pavlovic 6-4 6-7 6-3 in Chengdu qualifying

Alexandre Muller defeated fellow Frenchman Luka Pavlovic 6-4 6-7 6-3 in the qualifying semifinals on the hard courts of the ATP event in Chengdu. Muller landed 72.5 percent of his first serves and won 89.4 percent of those points, adding 52.0 percent on his second delivery, with eight aces and four double faults. He faced three break points and saved all three. Pavlovic struck 14 aces against four double faults, put 54.6 percent of first serves in play and won 77.4 percent behind them, plus 56.8 percent on second serve, saving nine of the 11 break points he faced.
