Garland downs Perez 6-1 6-2 in Singapore qualifying

Joanna Garland of Chinese Taipei defeated Ellen Perez 6-1, 6-2 in the qualifying semifinals at WTA Singapore on hard courts. Perez matched the 56.4 percent first-serve rate but won 40.9 percent of first-serve points and 41.2 percent of second-serve points, striking one ace against two double faults.
