Astakhova downs Kaji in three sets in Seoul qualifying

Darya Astakhova of Russia defeated Japan's Haruka Kaji 6-2 6-7 6-2 in the qualifying semifinals on the hard courts of WTA Seoul. Astakhova landed 71.1% of her first serves and won 58.0% of those points, along with 57.1% of her second-serve points. She faced 10 break points and saved seven, a rate of 70.0%, while serving four double faults. Kaji put 61.0% of her first serves in and won 57.4% of those points, but took 35.9% behind her second delivery. She saved five of the 12 break points she faced, 41.7%, and hit five double faults. Neither player struck an ace.
