Stearns beats Samsonova 7-6 6-2 in Guadalajara semifinals
Peyton Stearns of the United States defeated Russia's Liudmila Samsonova 7-6 6-2 in the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara, played on hard courts. Stearns landed 56.6% of her first serves and won 74.4% of those points, along with 54.5% behind her second delivery, with one ace and six double faults. She faced five break points and saved two. Samsonova put 63.9% of first serves in play, winning 58.5% of those points and 30.0% of her second-serve points, with two aces and eight double faults, saving seven of the 12 break points she faced.
