Stearns beats Stephens in Guadalajara quarterfinals

Peyton Stearns defeated fellow American Sloane Stephens 7-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 hard-court event in Guadalajara. Stearns landed 54.4% of her first serves, winning 64.9% of those points and 45.2% behind her second delivery, with two aces against seven double faults. She faced five break points and saved two, a rate of 40%. Stephens put 73.3% of her first serves in play but won 52.4% of those points, compared with 60.9% on her second serve, and struck one ace with two double faults. She faced 11 break points, saving seven, 63.6%.
