Parks edges Lepchenko in three sets in Guadalajara
Alycia Parks survived an all-American three-setter in the Guadalajara round of 32, beating Varvara Lepchenko 6-3, 1-6, 7-5. It was a match of extremes on the Parks serve: 10 aces against 16 double faults, with only 44.2% of first serves finding the box, though she won 73.7% of the points when they did. Lepchenko was the steadier server, landing 62.5% of first deliveries and taking 51.9% of her second-serve points, but she could not convert that reliability in the decider. Parks came through the swings to reach the next round.
