Dolehide edges Sorribes Tormo in Guadalajara qualifying decider
Caroline Dolehide came from a set down to beat Sara Sorribes Tormo 4-6 6-3 7-6 in the final round of qualifying at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara, settling a tight contest in a third-set tiebreak. Neither player hit an ace, so the margins came from consistency: Dolehide landed 81.2% of her first serves and stayed steady behind the second, winning 55.6% of those points to 44.4% for the Spaniard. Sorribes Tormo was the more damaging when she found the court, taking 65.5% of her first-serve points, but she put only 61.7% in. Dolehide's three double faults never proved decisive, and the American secured her place in the main draw.
