Hibino routs Kichenok 6-1 6-2 to reach Guadalajara main draw
Nao Hibino needed barely an hour's worth of resistance to sweep past Nadiya Kichenok 6-1 6-2 in the final round of qualifying at the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara. The match turned on the second ball: Kichenok won just 18.8 percent of her second-serve points and coughed up four double faults, while the Japanese player was steady behind hers, taking 57.9 percent of her own second-serve points and 68.4 percent behind the first. Hibino landed 66.7 percent of her first serves and conceded only two double faults, and that margin of control carried her into the main draw.
