Rybakina edges Sabalenka in three sets for US Open title
Elena Rybakina won the US Open final over Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 5-7 6-2, recovering from the loss of a tight second set to dominate the decider. Her serve was the difference even though she landed only 47.1 percent of first deliveries: when it went in, she won 85.4 percent of those points, and she struck 12 aces against Sabalenka's six. The second ball mattered too, Rybakina taking 58.7 percent behind hers while Sabalenka managed 48.9 percent and won 72.1 percent on first serve. For the Kazakh, it was a hard-court major claimed on power and precision.
