Paquet edges Capurro Taborda in three in Sao Paulo qualifying
Chloe Paquet came through a swinging three-setter in the Sao Paulo qualifying semifinals, taking the opener 7-5, losing her way in a 6-1 second set and then reasserting herself to close it out 6-2. The Frenchwoman's serve was a volatile weapon: three aces but eight double faults, with only 54.9% of first serves landing, though she won 62.2% of the points behind those that did. Martina Capurro Taborda was the steadier server, finding 66% of her first deliveries with three double faults, yet she won just 54.8% of those points. Paquet's bigger first strike ultimately settled it and carried her into the final qualifying round.
