Brace beats Candiotto 6-3 6-4 in Sao Paulo qualifying
Cadence Brace came through the Sao Paulo qualifying semifinals with a controlled 6-3 6-4 win over home hope Ana Candiotto. The Canadian's edge lay in the second-serve exchanges, where she took 44.8 percent of the points to Candiotto's 28.0, a gap that decided both sets. Brace also landed more first serves, 59.7 percent against 54.5, and won 62.8 percent behind them compared with 53.3 for the Brazilian. Eight double faults kept the scoreline from becoming more one-sided, but three aces and the steadier baseline platform were enough. The result carried Brace into the final qualifying round.
