Tikhonova routs Urrutia 6-2 6-1 in Sao Paulo qualifying

Anastasia Tikhonova needed little more than an hour's worth of clean tennis to sweep past Maria Florencia Urrutia 6-2 6-1 in the qualifying semifinals in Sao Paulo. The Russian landed only 50 percent of her first serves but was punishing behind them, winning 78.3 percent of those points and an unusually strong 65.2 percent behind her second, with three aces against two double faults. Urrutia found the box far more often, at 82.9 percent, yet took just 41.2 percent of her first-serve points and 28.6 percent on her second, and three double faults did not help. Tikhonova moved into the final qualifying round.
