Lea Ma routs Zavatska 6-2 6-2 in Guadalajara qualifying
Lea Ma needed little more than an hour's worth of dominance to brush past Katarina Zavatska 6-2 6-2 in the qualifying semifinals at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara. The Frenchwoman's serve was the difference: she landed 76.0 percent of her first deliveries and won 81.6 percent of those points, adding three aces to Zavatska's none. The Ukrainian matched her on first-serve accuracy at 75.4 percent but took only 48.8 percent of those points, which left her under constant pressure. Both players struck three double faults, yet only Ma's second serve, at 41.7 percent, was cushioned by a reliable first ball. The win carried Ma into the final round of qualifying.
