Sorribes Tormo beats Koike 7-5 6-2 in Guadalajara qualifying
Sara Sorribes Tormo came through the tighter of the two sets and then pulled clear, beating Ena Koike 7-5 6-2 in the qualifying semifinals at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara. The Spaniard's control of the baseline rallies began with her delivery: she landed 73.3 percent of first serves and won 65.9 percent of those points, while splitting her second-serve points evenly at 50 percent. Koike, by contrast, found only 55.6 percent of first serves and coughed up nine double faults, her three aces scant compensation. Sorribes Tormo moved a win from the main draw.
