Katrina Scott beats Panova 6-2 6-4 in Guadalajara qualifying
Katrina Scott came through the qualifying semifinals at the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara with a controlled 6-2 6-4 win over Alexandra Panova. The American's serve set the tone: 11 aces against just two double faults, 70 percent of first serves in and 77.1 percent of those points won, leaving Panova with little rhythm on return. The difference came behind the second ball, where Scott claimed 66.7 percent of points while Panova managed only 36.8 percent and added four double faults. Panova's five aces and 72.2 percent behind the first serve were not enough, and Scott moved a step closer to the main draw.
