Gauff recovers from a set down to beat Andreeva in US Open quarterfinals
Coco Gauff turned a poor start into a three-set win over Mirra Andreeva, 2-6 7-6 6-2, in the US Open quarterfinals. The American landed only 59.2% of her first serves and coughed up 12 double faults, a tally that helped explain the opening set, yet she won 72.1% of the points behind that first delivery and leaned on it once the match tightened. Andreeva was the steadier server on paper, with 67.4% first serves in and just five double faults, but her 62.1% won on first serve gave Gauff openings. The home favourite reached the last four.
