Rybakina recovers to beat Zheng in US Open quarterfinal
Elena Rybakina lost the opening set but turned the quarterfinal around to beat Qinwen Zheng 3-6 6-1 6-4 at the US Open. Once the Kazakh settled, her serve carried her: she won 80.0% of points behind her first delivery and, crucially, 63.6% behind her second, even though only 54.8% of her first serves landed. Zheng struck seven aces to Rybakina's five, but with just 48.9% of first serves in she was left exposed on the second, where she won only 47.9%. The comeback sent Rybakina through to the semifinals in New York.
