Sabalenka edges Noskova in two tiebreaks to reach US Open semis
Aryna Sabalenka survived a three-set quarterfinal at the US Open, beating Linda Noskova 7-6 3-6 7-6 in a match settled almost entirely on serve. Noskova struck 18 aces to Sabalenka's 12 and landed 62.6 percent of her first serves, winning 75.3 percent of those points, but her second delivery was the difference: she took just 43.5 percent behind it, against 60.6 percent for Sabalenka. The Belarusian also served more reliably overall, putting 65.3 percent of first serves in and winning 77.4 percent of them, with four double faults to Noskova's six. Two tiebreaks went her way, and a semifinal place came with them.
