Van de Zandschulp fights back from two sets down at US Open

Botic van de Zandschulp came from two sets down to beat Arthur Gea 3-6 6-7 7-6 7-6 6-4 in the US Open round of 16, a five-set escape decided in the smallest margins. The Dutchman's serve carried him once the tie-breaks arrived: 15 aces and 70.4 percent of points won behind a first delivery that landed only 57.8 percent of the time, with nine double faults the price of the risk. Gea served at 60.0 percent and won 66.7 percent of those points, but 12 double faults and a hittable second ball undermined him. Van de Zandschulp is into the quarterfinals.
