Tiafoe ousts Medvedev in straight sets in US Open last 16
Frances Tiafoe knocked out Daniil Medvedev 7-6, 6-4, 7-6 in the US Open fourth round, taking two tiebreaks and never surrendering a set. The American's serve was the model of control: 62.9% of first serves in, 69.9% of those points won, 53.5% behind the second ball and not a single double fault all afternoon. Medvedev struck 14 aces to Tiafoe's four and won 77.6% of his first-serve points, but he landed only 59.3% of them and took just 37.0% behind the second, with five double faults. It carried Tiafoe into the US Open quarterfinals on home soil.
