Navarro downs Kalinskaya in straight sets for US Open quarter-final spot
Emma Navarro moved into the US Open quarter-finals with a controlled 6-4 6-2 win over Anna Kalinskaya in the fourth round. The American's serve was the steadier weapon throughout: she landed 60.3% of first deliveries, won 74.3% of those points and 56.5% behind her second, striking six aces against a single double fault. Kalinskaya, by contrast, found only half of her first serves and was punished on the second, taking just 37.0% of those points while conceding nine double faults. It was a clean, front-running performance from Navarro on home soil, and a deep run at her home Grand Slam.
