Khachanov downs Bonzi in straight sets at US Open
Karen Khachanov never let the contest slip from his grasp, seeing off Benjamin Bonzi 6-3 6-2 6-4 in the US Open round of 32. The Russian's serve did the heavy lifting: 12 aces, 78.6% of first-serve points won and an even 50% behind the second ball gave Bonzi almost nothing to attack. The Frenchman, by contrast, landed only 52.4% of his first serves and won just 33.3% of his second-serve points, a gap that made every service game a struggle and his seven double faults costly. For Khachanov, it was a clean, efficient passage into the fourth round.
