Andreeva downs Bartunkova 6-2 7-6 in US Open third round
Mirra Andreeva booked her place in the US Open fourth round with a 6-2 7-6 win over Nikola Bartunkova, a match that began as a rout and finished as a scrap. The difference lay on second serve: Andreeva won 61.5 percent of points behind hers, while Bartunkova managed just 33.3 percent and coughed up six double faults to Andreeva's four. Neither player was especially reliable with the first ball, Andreeva landing 57.4 percent and Bartunkova 58.9, but the Russian was firmer when it landed, taking 71.4 percent of those points to 67.4. Bartunkova pushed the second set to a tiebreak, yet Andreeva closed it out without dropping a set.
