Kalinskaya edges Svitolina in three sets at US Open
Anna Kalinskaya came through a three-set battle with Elina Svitolina 6-3 2-6 6-3 to reach the US Open fourth round. The Russian did it despite a wayward delivery, striking no aces and coughing up 14 double faults, though she landed 57.9 percent of first serves and won 61.4 percent of those points. Svitolina hit four aces against just four double faults, but her first serve found the box only 49.4 percent of the time and returned 50.0 percent of points won, leaving her too little cushion. Kalinskaya's steadier first-strike numbers proved the difference in the decider.
