Etcheverry beats Navone in straight sets at the US Open

Tomas Martin Etcheverry controlled an all-Argentine fourth-round-bound clash in the Round of 32 at the US Open, seeing off Mariano Navone 6-4 6-4 6-3 without ever surrendering the initiative. The serve did the heavy lifting: Etcheverry struck eight aces to Navone's four, dropped just one double fault, and won 76% of his first-serve points and 65.6% behind the second. Navone landed more first serves, 67.9% to 61.0%, but converted only 64.9% of them and just 55.6% of his second-serve points, a gap that decided each tight set.
