Medvedev sees off Rinderknech in straight sets at US Open

Daniil Medvedev needed only one break in each set to move past Arthur Rinderknech 6-4 6-4 6-4 in the US Open round of 32, a straight-sets win built on repeated margins that never quite let the Frenchman back in. The Russian landed just 54.5% of his first serves but was almost untouchable behind them, winning 83.3% of those points and 62.9% on his second, offsetting six double faults with ten aces. Rinderknech served cleanly, with nine aces, a single double fault and 67.9% first serves in, yet won only 23.1% of his second-serve points, and that gap decided every set. Medvedev advanced without dropping a set.
