The Romanian's serve set the tone: 72 percent of her first deliveries landed, she won 69.4 percent of those points and struck seven aces against Paolini's one. Paolini put a comparable 70.6 percent of first serves in play but won only 52.1 percent behind them, and her second delivery was picked apart, yielding just 30 percent of points alongside four double faults. Cirstea's 57.1 percent on second serve kept the pressure one-sided throughout.
