Anisimova edges past Tagger in three sets at US Open
Amanda Anisimova needed three sets to move through the US Open second round, taking out Austria's Lilli Tagger 6-3 3-6 6-1 after conceding the middle set. The American's first delivery was the difference: she landed 66.7 percent of her first serves and won 76.8 percent of those points, against 60.9 percent and 60.4 percent for Tagger. Both players struck seven aces, but Anisimova's four double faults were one fewer than her opponent's five, and her hold pattern steadied just as the decider began. Only her second serve, worth 35.7 percent of points, kept the contest alive that long.
