Mensik beats Rodionov in four sets at US Open second round
Jakub Mensik came through a four-set test against Jurij Rodionov 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-3 to reach the third round at the US Open, recovering immediately after dropping the second set. The difference lay behind the second serve: the Czech won 66.7 percent of those points, while Rodionov managed just 44.4 percent, and Mensik also took 84.6 percent of his first-serve points to the Austrian's 74.6. Rodionov's 15 aces edged Mensik's 14, but neither man was reliable on first delivery, at 59.8 and 57.1 percent respectively. For Mensik, it was a solid step deeper into the draw in New York.
