Potapova edges Jeanjean in three sets at US Open
Anastasia Potapova came through a scrappy three-setter against Leolia Jeanjean, 6-4 2-6 6-3, in the US Open round of 64. Neither player found rhythm on serve: Potapova landed just 53.6% of her first deliveries and Jeanjean 50.6%, and the pair matched each other with nine double faults apiece. The difference lay in what happened when the first serve did land, Potapova winning 71.2% of those points to Jeanjean's 65.1%, and adding four aces to the Frenchwoman's two. Jeanjean was the sharper of the two behind the second ball, at 47.6% against 42.2%, but it was not enough. Potapova moved into the third round.
