Vacherot outlasts Majchrzak in four sets at US Open
Valentin Vacherot came through a demanding four-setter against Kamil Majchrzak, 6-4 4-6 7-6 6-2, in the US Open round of 64. The Monegasque leaned on his delivery in the biggest moments, striking 17 aces to his opponent's eight, and the third-set tie-break proved the hinge of the match before he pulled clear in the fourth. It was not a clean serving day for either man: Vacherot landed 57 percent of first serves and coughed up 12 double faults, with Majchrzak at 53.4 percent and seven. The win sent Vacherot into the third round.
